POLAND- Gary James Caswell, 61, of Poland, passed away of a massive heart attack Tuesday evening at his home. Gary was born September 11, 1947 in Youngstown, a son of Arden and Rita Quinn Caswell and he was a life-long area resident. A 1965 graduate of Struthers High School, Gary served in the United States Army in the Vietnam War from August 15, 1967 until March 21, 1969. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart. Gary was employed at Youngstown Steel Door for 20 years and for 8 years in maintenance for St. Mary's Alzheimerâa�a��s Clinic in Columbiana, retiring in 2008. He was a member of the Eagles and the VFW. Gary enjoyed many activities and sports, faithfully cheering on the Detroit Lions and Ohio State Buckeyes. One of his greatest attributes was his loyalty to his family and friends. He could always be counted on to lend a helping hand. He was a member of St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church, where he married his beloved wife, Darlene Calve, on December 30, 1967. Besides Darlene, he leaves his daughter, his greatest fan, Terra C. Caswell, of Struthers; sisters and brother-in-laws, Colleen Lingo, Lorna and John Pawlosky, all of Boardman and Peggy and Michael Jackintell of Struthers; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Sharon Caswell of Poland; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard and JoAnn Calve of Boardman; nine nieces and nephews, Mandy and Dave Schialdone, Richard and Christina Calve, Dennis and Kristi Pacholec, Michael Pacholec, Katie and Megan Caswell, Lisa Pawlosky, Amy and Victor DiMargio, and Kaylee Jackintell; one great-niece, Torrence Schialdone; and two great nephews, Dawson Pacholec and Victor DiMargio Jr. Besides his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Frank and Lena Alusia Calve; and one niece, Heather Ann Caswell. Funeral services will be Tuesday 9:15 a.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home and 10:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church with Father Bob Bonnot officiating.
