Boardman - Garnet Eleanor Port, 94, of Boardman, Ohio, died Saturday, March 29, 2008 at the Greenbriar. Mrs. Port was born August 8, 1913 in Leechburg, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Preston A. and Vada Knepshield Allshouse. Mrs. Port was a 1932 Graduate of Struthers High School. She was a seamstress and enjoyed sewing drapes and knitting. Mrs. Port was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Boardman and the Boardman Dance Club. She enjoyed spending time with her children, family, and friends. She also loved the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns. Her husband, Charles M. Port, whom she married March 18, 1941, died March 8, 1995. She is survived by her sister, Sally Orosz of Struthers; two brothers, Clyde Allshouse of Struthers and Donald Allshouse of Boardman; two grandchildren, Charles T. Port and Allison Sams; three great-grandchildren, Jacob, Jarod, and Makella Sams; three nieces, Jill Buzzard, Sara Orosz, and Jayne Allshouse; three nephews, Jeffery, Don, and Michael Allshouse; and three great-nieces, Jacolyn, Christina, and Morgan Buzzard. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Chuck Port; a brother, Clifford Allshouse; a sister, Margaret Allshouse; and a brother-in-law, Robert Orosz. The family would like to thank the entire staff of the Greenbriar Nursing Home for their care and compassion. A memorial service will be held Friday, April 4, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bethel Lutheran Church, 425 Crestview Drive, Boardman, OH 44512.
