Gail Ann Vickers

Gail Ann Vickers, 81, of Boardman, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2020 in the company of her devoted husband of 62 years, James C Vickers Sr., at the Woodlands at Austinwoods nursing facility. She was the daughter of the late Herbert and Evelyn (Carlson) Campbell of McKeesport, PA and sister of the late Dawn Taylor (James) of Florida.  Gail was a loving and devoted mother of 4 boys: James Jr. (Angie) of Pittsburgh, PA, Mark (Renee) of Northville, MI, Matthew “Scott” of Pittsburgh, PA, and John ”JP” (Carolyn) of Williamstown, NJ. She was affectionately called Nan Nan by her 7 grandchildren Carolyn, Kathryn, Sarah, Elizabeth, Alexander, Allison, and Chelsea and her only great grandchild, Landon.  Gail will be remembered affectionately by Jim’s sister, Eva (Thomas) and brother, Bill (Joyce), and her sister’s husband Jim and their families.

Since relocating to Ohio 10 years ago, Gail and Jim became especially close to his late sister, Judy, daughter, Diana,and her family. They were indispensable during Gail’s final days.

Gail was a fabulous cook and known by all who knew her for her potato salad and many varieties of Christmas cookies. Every year she would have her boys deliver trays of cookies to all her neighbors. She passed those handwritten recipes down and they are now lovingly made in the homes of her children and grandchildren.

Gail and Jim relocated to Michigan in the 1980s. There, she and Jim enjoyed boating on Lake Erie and then, after moving to the western side of the state, together they enjoyed the spectacular sunsets on Lake Michigan. In Michigan, Gail became a real estate agent at Coldwell Banker showing off the beautiful properties of her second home.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers.  The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Gail’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
