Boardman - Gail Eileen Johnson, 75, died early Sunday morning, at her home, surrounded by family.
Mrs. Johnson was born September 25, 1938 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Gail and Sophia Tarasuck Schaab.
She was a 1956 graduate of Boardman High School and attended Youngstown State University. Mrs. Johnson worked for many years as a medical assistant for Dr. Fernando Carbonell, Dr. Niranjan Patel, and Dr. James Graneto.
Gail was a member of Good Hope Lutheran Church in Boardman.
In her spare time, Mrs. Johnson enjoyed volunteering as a teacher's aide at the Boardman Market Street Elementary School. An animal lover, Gail was a supporter of Angels for Animals and loved the company of her grand beagle, Emilyn Fawn. Mrs. Johnson was also an accomplished dancer. She danced for the Tony Romeo Dance Studio for over 15 years, and especially loved to tap dance.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Howard "Bud" Johnson, whom she married August 16, 1959; two daughters, Kelly (Ken Neese) Johnson and Erin (Dennis Lightner) Johnson, both of Boardman; brother, Kenneth (Shirley) Schaab of Canfield; four grandchildren, Kassandra, Karlie, Kenzie, and Carl Jon Ligore.
Private funeral services will be held for immediate family Wednesday. Entombment will take place at Green Haven Memorial Gardens in Canfield.
The family requests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions in Mrs. Johnson's name to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market Street, Boardman, Ohio 44512 or to Angels for Animals, 4750 State Route 165, Canfield, Ohio 44406.
Arrangements are being handled by Davis-Becker Funeral Home in Boardman.
