Gaetena "Tina" Svetlak

Struthers - Gaetena "Tina" Svetlak, 92, died late Friday evening, March 4, 2016 at Masternick Memorial Health Care Center.

Gaetena, affectionately known as "Tina," was born August 10, 1923 in Youngstown, a daughter of Dante and Jennie Acierno Tolone.

Raised in Youngstown, she was a graduate of East High School. Mrs. Svetlak worked at Sears in retail for many years and was a dedicated homemaker. She was a member of Christ Our Savior Parish at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Local Union No. 2162 Club, St. Charles Seniors, Italian Mothers, and Holy Family.

Her husband, Edward Svetlak, whom she married January 20, 1947, preceded her in death on June 16, 2015. She is survived by her children, Edward Svetlak of Poland, Kathleen Thomas of Canfield, and Daniel (Patricia) Svetlak of Sitka, Alaska; five grandchildren, Jason and Jessica Svetlak, Matthew, Michael and John Thomas; and one great-grandchild, Amelia Thomas.

In addition her parents and husband, Gaetena was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Lou Tamburro.

A prayer service will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, 11 Spring St., Struthers, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church.  Interment will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
