Gaetano Della Valle

Struthers - Gaetano "Guy" Della Valle, 65, died peacefully Tuesday afternoon, September 12, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Health Center after a cardiac event, with his family at his side.

Gaetano, affectionately known as "Guy" was born October 14, 1951 in Pontelatone, Italy, a son of Antonio and Alfonsina Riccio Della Valle. He came to the United States at age 14 and settled in Girard with his family.

He was a 1972 graduate of Girard High School. On September 27, 1974, he married the former Linda Scott, and they made their home in Liberty for many years before moving to Struthers 12 years ago.

For 22 years, Guy worked as a maintenance foreman in the galvanizing department of Syro Steel in Girard. He later retired from YDC in Mineral Ridge, where he worked as an air quality control technician and electrician for 20 years.

Guy loved fishing with his children and grandchildren, cooking his famous bbq chicken and potatoes, and above all taking care of his family. Guy was a humble and patient man, who was a natural teacher and mentor. He was dedicated to sharing his knowledge with others and helping anyone in need. Guy's life was one well lived and he will be deeply and sincerely missed by all that knew him.

Guy was of the Catholic faith and was a former member of St. Rose Church in Girard.

Guy is survived by his wife, Linda; two sons, Christopher (Aubrey) Della Valle of Struthers and Anthony (Sara) Della Valle of Struthers; brother, John (Norma) Colapietro of Berlin Center; sister, Josephine Bach of Girard; two granddaughters, Cheyanne "Annie" and Abby Della Valle; and sister-in-law, Connie Della Valle of McDonald; and a host of nieces and nephews that adored their Uncle Guy. Guy also leaves his wife Linda's family whom he loved dearly as his own.

In addition to his parents, Guy was preceded in death by his brother, Frank Della Valle and his brother-in-law, Robert Bach.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, September 15th, from 5-8 p.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, 11 Spring St., Struthers.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 16th at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
