G. Edward Humphrey, 61 Youngstown- G. Edward Humphrey, 61, of 858 Palmer Ave., died of an apparent heart attack Monday afternoon at his residence. Mr. Humphrey known as Ed was born February 3, 1944 in Grove City, Pennsylvania, a son of Floyd and Laura Spence Humphrey. He was raised in Harrisville, Pennsylvania and settled in Youngstown in the 1980âa�a��s. Ed was a graduate of Slippery Rock High School and served in the United States Army from 1962 through 1968. He was in sales for most of his working career, and retired from Greenwood Chevrolet in January 2001 after 17 years of service. Ed was raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason in Western Star Lodge #21 F&AM on May 31, 1986. He was appointed to officersâa�a�� line in 1987 and served as Worshipful Master in 1993 and 2002. For the past 17 years Ed has co-chaired the Western Star Golf Outing for Special Olympics. A member of The Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Youngstown since 1993, Ed had the pleasure of serving Hiram Lodge of Perfection as Thrice Potent Master in 2002. In 1987, Ed âa�A"Roosterâa�A� was initiated into the Aut Mori Grotto. He was a member of the Clown Unit and was General Director of the Circus. He served the Grotto as a trustee, secretary and was proud to serve Monarch in 1998. A member of Temple on the Hill High Twelve since 2001, Ed served as Chaplain and was currently serving as President. In 2002 he joined the Al Koran Shrine of Cleveland and the Youngstown Shrine Club. He was currently a member of the Shrine Speakers Bureau. Ed was a member and Deacon of Christsâa�a�� Church in Boardman. He enjoyed many things but Edâa�a��s main interests were his family, playing golf, and spending time at the camper with his wife and dog, Bree. He is survived by his wife the former Karen Blair whom he married September 2, 1966; three sons, David of Boardman, James and his wife Michelle of Lowellville, and Todd and his wife Melanie of Austintown; two sisters, Lois Taylor of Grove City, Pennsylvania and Linda Palmer of Parker, Pennsylvania; two brothers, Robert of St. Cloud, Florida and Ralph of Erie, Pennsylvania, and five grandchildren, Jessaca, Josh, Katie, Jimmy and Justin. Besides his parents, a brother Donald and sister Barbara Bonetti preceded him in death. Funeral services will be Friday, 11:00 AM at the Christsâa�a�� Church. Friends may call Thursday from 1-3 PM and 5-8 PM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland and Friday from 10:00 until 10:45 AM in Church.
