Frederick William Hartman, 70, of Youngstown, Ohio, passed away on October 29, 2024 at Mercy Health Boardman. He had spent the last three years at Caprice Nursing Home following a fall that left him fully paralyzed.
Fred was born on February 9, 1954, to Minnie and Harold Hartman in Youngstown, Ohio.
Fred lived a vibrant, adventurous life from a young age. After high school, he joined the Navy and following his service, traveled the world collecting many stories along the way. He worked in construction for most of his life, using his hands to build, repair, and create nearly anything imaginable. Fred also taught carpentry at the private prison (CCA) when it first opened in Youngstown. In his free time, he enjoyed watching old movies, was a passionate wrestling fan, and cheered for the San Diego Chargers. Fred had a deep love for his dogs and for many people, even if his way of showing it was sometimes unique.
He is survived by his son, Cody (Kasey) of Youngstown; step-daughters, Katie (JD) of Poland and Whitney (Joe) of Boardman, along with their mother, Fran; his granddaughter, Madison; and his girlfriend, Betty Koby of Youngstown, and her two children, Vinnie and Coleen. He also leaves behind his brothers, Lew (Marsha), Dan (Dawn), and Harlan, along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his brothers, Joe and Earl, and his sister, Peggy.
