Youngstown - Freda Wardrope, 90, of Youngstown, formerly of Boardman and Struthers, died Wednesday morning, March 29, 2017 at Canfield Place.
Freda was born December 31, 1926 in Llanelli, Wales, a daughter of William and Margaret Lewis Hopkins.
She came to the United States and to Struthers as a young girl and was a graduate of Struthers High School, Class of 1945. She worked in the clerical department for Truscon Steel prior to becoming a homemaker. Freda was a talented seamstress and enjoyed gardening. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and loved her time with her family. Freda was a member of the Struthers Girls Club and Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Her husband, Glen, whom she married December 29, 1951 died December 11, 1993. She leaves four daughters, Margaret Ann (Gary) Scarsella of Aurora, CO, Alice (Scott) Falkenhain of Kansas City, MO, Glenda (Ed) Kinnan of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, and Jennifer (Pete) Carey of Boardman; seven grandchildren, Leah Kinnan, Justin (Noel) Scarsella, McKenna and Morgan Carey, Caleb, Alexander, and Chloe Falkenhain; and one great-granddaughter Abbagayle Scarsella.
In addition to her parents and husband, Freda was preceded in death by her sister, Phyllis Joseph.
Funeral services will be held Friday, 11:00 a.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers, with Rev. Donald Aull officiating. Interment will follow at Green Haven Memorial Gardens in Canfield.
Friends will be received today from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
