Freda L. Rumble
October 23, 1920 — January 4, 2018
Freda L. Rumble of Sharrott Road, Poland , formerly of Bonita Springs, FL, passed away peacefully at the age of 97 on January 4, 2018 at the The Hospice House in Poland, OH.
Freda was predeceased by her parents Amelia and Michael Mushinski, her husband, Edgar Rumble, her brother Sylvester, sister Irene Tenney and grandson Jeff Flanagan. She leaves her four children, Ray Rumble (Carol) of Loganville, GA, Rosemary Ridal (John) of Canton, OH, Deborah Flanagan (John) of Cohasset. MA, and Edgar Rumble Jr. (Laura) of Poland, OH. She also leaves 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and her two sisters, Dorothy Stefko of Canfield, OH and Joanne Gentile (John) of Naples, FL.
Freda was a graduate of South High School at age 16 in 1936. She then graduated from Kent State University at age 19. She taught kindergarten in the Cleveland School of Youngstown and was a middle school teacher of Geography and English at Boardman Junior High.
Freda served as a past President and member of the Board of the Youngstown Federation of Women's Clubs. She also served on the board of the Steel Valley Homes for Youth, Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley, Advisory Committee of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and an Elder of First Presbyterian Church in Youngstown. From 1983 to 1997, she was Chairman of the Board of Michigan Hanger Company, Niles, OH.
An accomplished pianist, Freda gave numerous recitals during her lifetime. She was also a voracious reader. Freda and her husband Ed enjoyed playing golf together at the Youngstown Country Club and in Florida. She continued her love of golf and traveling after her husband passed. One of the highlights of her life was an around the world trip on the Concorde with her dear friend, Barb Rasmussen.
A service will be held Monday at 11:30AM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main St., Poland.
Friends and family will be received Sunday, January 7 from 4-6 PM and Monday, January 8 from 10:30AM-11:15AM at the funeral home.
