Poland - Frank D. Richards, 94, died Wednesday morning, December 2, 2015 at his home, surrounded by his family.
Mr. Richards was born November 21, 1921 in Youngstown, a son of E. Allen and Mary Koenreich Richards.
Raised in Youngstown, Mr. Richards was a graduate of South High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army during World War II, serving for
3 1/2 years. Returning to Youngstown after the war, Mr. Richards worked as a supervisor for Youngstown Sheet & Tube, which later became LTV Steel. He retired in 1983 after 43 years of service.
He was a former and longtime member of Evangel Baptist Church and most recently a member of Poland Village Baptist Church.
Frank had a gift for mechanics and could fix most anything. He could often be found working on projects in his garage and basement.
His first wife, the former Grace McQuown, preceded him in death on December 28, 1957. He leaves his wife, the former Grace Koval, whom he married June 24, 1960; a daughter, Nancy (Rudy) King of Upsala, MN; three sons, Robert Richards of Springdale, AR, William (Darlene) Richards of Alpharetta, GA, and Jeffrey (Kristina) Richards of Rochester, MI; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and first wife, Mr. Richards was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Private services were held for the family on Friday at the Poland Riverside Cemetery.
