Pannozzo, 86, who passed away at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, May 11, 2018, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home after a long illness with his family by his side.
Frank was born Sept. 24, 1931, in Campbell, the son of the late Vincenzo and Vincenza Pannozzo and had been a lifelong area resident.
He was a member of the church. He was a 1949 graduate of North High School in Youngstown and attended Youngstown State University. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War from 1951 to 1954, stationed in Puerto Rico for two years, then two years in Norfolk, Va. aboard the U.S.S. Mississippi. In 1992, he was elected to place the wreath at the grave of the unknown soldier in Washington, D.C. He was a member of the VFW Post 4123.
He was employed at Youngstown Sheet & Tube for 34 years, retiring by force in 1982 from the Cold Strip Department. He then worked for the Boardman United Methodist Church, as a custodian for four years, then worked five years at Southern Park Mall in the Promotion Department, where he enjoyed seeing all his old friends and old co-workers from LTV. He then worked as a valet attendant at Forum Health Center for nine years, retiring in 2001.
He was a volunteer at the Youngstown Symphony Center from 1988 to 2014. He played on several bowling leagues, and was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians and Browns, as well as YSU football and basketball. He loved watching the news and enjoyed history. He also loved going on vacation with the family each year and bus and casino trips with his wife.
He leaves behind to hold onto his precious memories, his beloved wife of 51 and a half years, the former Patricia Garone, whom he married Oct. 8, 1966; his daughter, Mrs. Gina Marie Pannozzo; twin grandchildren Trinity Skye and Rocky Edrik Sewruk, who were the apple of his eye; two brothers, James (Roberta) Pannozzo of Florida and Dr. Anthony Pannozzo of Arizona; three sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Carson, Mrs. Mary Pantaleo and Mrs. Jean (Joe) Rosati all of Boardman; three sisters-in-law, Betty Pannozzo of Florida, Lucy Pannozzo of Canfield and Carol Garone of Liberty Township; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Oddy, John, Danny and Richard.
The family would like to thank Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Southern Care Hospice and the Veterans Association of Youngstown for all the excellent care they gave Frank.
