Frank W. Miketa

Frank W. Miketa, 75, of Poland, died Monday at the Cleveland Clinic. Mr. Miketa was born September 21, 1929, in Girard, a son of Frank and Rose Hotak Miketa. He was raised in Liberty and moved to Poland in 1965. He was a graduate of Liberty High School and received his AB degree from Youngstown College. Mr. Miketa began his career as a grocer at both Century Foods and Loblaws. He later became regional supervisor for Queen/Golden Dawn Stores. In 1976 he purchased his own grocery stores, Frankâa�a��s Golden Dawn in New Middletown and East Palestine Golden Dawn. When Mr. Miketa retired in 1986, he was appointed executive director of the Youngstown Area Grocers Association. Retired from the executor director position, Mr. Miketa was presently serving as a member of the Board of Directors for the Youngstown Area Grocers Association. He was a former member for the Ohio Grocers Association. The National Grocers Association honored him with the Spirit of America Award in 1977. He was a member of Holy Family Church in Poland. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, the former Helen Parrello, whom he married July 9, 1955; his children, Cynthia (Tom) Marchese of Poland, and twins, Donna (Mark) Morocco of Poland and Specialist 1st Class David (Ronda) Miketa of New Middletown; one brother, Raymond Miketa of Lakeworth, Florida; and seven grandchildren, Jennifer Marchese-Wymer, Jason, Kathryn and Sarah Marchese, Mark David and Nicole Morocco and Stan Miketa. Funeral services will be Monday, 10:30 AM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland and 11:00 AM at Holy Family Church in Poland.
