Struthers - Frank Malagisi, 80, entered eternal rest on July 12, 2015 in St. Elizabeth Care Center in Boardman. Frank was born July 25, 1934 in Youngstown, OH, to the late Frank and Theresa Berardinelli Malagisi.
Frank, known as Chookie to family and friends, attended East High School and then enlisted in the United States Army, serving in the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1955. He married the love of his life, the former Donna Vagillion on July 4, 1959 at St. Stanislaus Church in Youngstown.
He worked on the B&O Railroad and more recently as a Supervisor for the Mahoning County Court House for 19 years, retiring in 2002. He was a member of Christ our Savior Parish at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Struthers, past member of the Korean War Veterans, Mahoning County Democratic Club, East High Fruit Street Reunion. A true artisan, he enjoyed woodworking and making many fine things. He took great pride in making the podium that is still in use today at the Mahoning County Court House. He enjoyed traveling and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He was a devoted husband and father and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Frank leaves his wife, Donna Malagisi; daughter, Denise Malagisi; son, Gary F. Malagisi all of Struthers; three sisters, MaryLou Rusu of Boardman, Delores (Michael) Esposito of Hubbard and Phyllis (Joseph) Abruzzi of Howland; brother, Richard (Priscilla) Malagisi of Austintown; his aunt, Jean Latone of Austintown; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Prayer services will begin on Thursday at 12:15pm at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main St. Poland, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Christ our Savior Parish at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church in Struthers at 1pm with the Rev. Fr. Bernard Bonnot as Celebrant. Burial will follow in Lake Park Cemetery. Friends will be received from 5-7pm on Wednesday and 11:30am-12:15pm on Thursday at the funeral home.
