Poland - Frank Galka, 64, of Poland, passed away Thursday, March 24 at his 2nd residence in Silverspring, MD.
Frank was born September 9, 1946 in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Joseph and Cecilia Wojton Galka.
He was a 1964 graduate of Etna High School near Pittsburgh and a 1969 graduate of Duquesne University with a BS in Business Administration. Frank served in the United States Air Force, active duty for over three years, and then the reserves, exiting as Captain. Frank held a real estate broker's license in Pennsylvania and a real estate salesmanship license in both Ohio and Pennsylvania and was a member of BOMA.
He subsequently worked in property management and real estate negotiations for Penn Central Corp., Crown American Properties, Fedex Ground Packaging System, Inc. and, at the time of his death, Government Services Administrations in Washington D.C.
Frank was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church of Poland, participating as a lecture, CCD teacher, St. Joseph's Guild and Men's Renewal Team.
An avid listener of Doo-Wop and 1950's rock n' roll, Frank was also a fan of Western genre tv shows and films. He also enjoyed camping and canoeing and chaperoned for many Boardman Scout Troop 46 outings.
Frank leaves his wife, the former Linda Keough, whom he married April 21, 1979; two daughters, Stephanie M. Galka of Las Vegas, Nev., and Maureen E. Galka of Stow; one son, Anthony M. Galka of Poland; and two sisters, Christine (Robert) Sobehart of Allison Park, PA, and Marcia (Louis) Napoli of Tewskbury, MA.
Friends will be received Monday from 5-8 PM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland, and Tuesday from 9-10 AM at Holy Family Church where a Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 AM.
