Frank J. Carchedi, Jr. 83 Lowellville- Frank J. Carchedi, Jr., 83, of 183 W. Walnut Street died early Tuesday morning at his residence with his wife at his side. Mr. Carchedi was born July 7, 1920 in Keyser West Virginia, a son of Frank and Carmela Dastoli Carchedi. As a young child, he moved with his family to Filadelfia, Calabria, Italy later returning to the United States and making his home in Lowellville. He was a 1940 graduate of Lowellville High School and shortly after enlisted in the United States Navy where he served in World War II and the Korean Conflict. Mr. Carchedi was a mail handler for the United States Postal Service for over 28 years. He was very active in the Village of Lowellville serving as councilman for over 30 years. As a 50 year member of the American Legion Post #247 he served as past Commander. He was a member of the Struthers VFW Post #3538 and a life-time member of the Mount Carmel Society having served as financial secretary. He was a member and past president of the Lowellville Senior Citizens and was also active in the Lowellville Little League and scouting organizations. Mr. Carchedi was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church where he served as usher. Besides his wife of 55 years, Annunziata M. Recce, whom he married December 27, 1948 he is survived by three sons, John (Joy) Carchedi of Selma, Alabama, James (Debbie) Carchedi and Thomas (Marie) Carchedi all of Struthers; one sister, Mary Carchedi of Lowellville and five grandsons, Thomas II, Andrew, James Jr., Matthew and Stephen Carchedi. Besides his parents, two brothers, Vito and Joseph Carchedi and one sister Victoria Dastoli preceded him in death. Funeral services will be Friday, 10:00 am at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Lowellville and 10:30 am at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Lowellville. Friends may call Thursday from 4-8 pm at the funeral home.
