Frank D. Anness, 100, of Youngstown, died early Tuesday morning at Shepherd of the Valley in Boardman. He was born in Freedom, PA on July 14, 1914 to the late, Victor and Drusiana Anness.
He was a decorated Army veteran, serving in the 101st Airborne during WWII. Frank retired from Youngstown Sheet & Tube in 1974, following 30 years of employment. Following his retirement he went to work with the United Steel Workers Union.
Frank was a member of the Croatian Club, the I.T.A.M. Club and will be deeply missed by his loving family.
He leaves his two sons, Martin (Lu) Anness of Poland and Edward Anness of Youngstown; and his grandchildren, Brentton, Brittany, Hannah and Noah Anness.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Edna Clark Anness; his 2nd wife Ann C. Hudak; three brothers, Orlando, Angelo and David Anness; and two sisters, Nellie DiRenzo and Florence Romito.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11am in the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 North Main St. Poland with Deacon Ray Hatala officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10-10:45am in the funeral home.
