Francisco Martinez Guzman

June 22, 1928 — February 11, 2018

Youngstown - Francisco M. Guzman, 89, died Sunday morning, February 11, 2018 at Park Center Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Boardman.

Francisco, known by family and friends as "Frank" was born on June 22, 1928 in Corpus Christi, TX, a son of Leandro and Antonia Martinez Quinones Guzman. He was raised in Comales, Mexico and returned to Texas in 1940 and eventually settled in Youngstown in the late 1940's.

Mr. Guzman was first employed by Conrail Railroad and retired from Luntz Iron and Steel in Warren after 30 years of service. He also

was a television and electronic repairman for many years.

A veteran of the United States Army, Mr. Guzman served during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharge in 1960 with the rank of Sergeant.

Francisco was president of the Steelworker Union at Luntz Steel in the 1970's and was officer and president of the Sociedad Mutualista, a Mexican Heritage Club.

His wife, Esperanza Herrera, whom he married December 1, 1951 preceded him in death on December 4, 1997. He is survived by four sons, Frank (Patty) Guzman of Poland, Carlos Guzman of Youngstown, Paul (Deb) Guzman of Poland and Raymond (Stephanie) Guzman of Gilbertson, FL; one daughter, Adelita Guzman of Youngstown; seven grandchildren, Adam Guzman, Lynsay (Josh) Reardon, Tyller, Sadee, Stephen, Anthony and Carmela Guzman; and five great-grandchildren, Gabriella, Taylor and Addison Guzman, and Jack and Logan Reardon.

In addition to his parents and wife, Francisco was preceded in death by his brother, Pablo Carrizales and sisters, Celia DeLeon and Margarita Lopez.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, 10:30 a.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main St., Poland with Fr. Kevin Peters officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown.

Family and friends will be received today from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home in Poland.
