Struthers - Francis C. Dunn, 90, died Thursday evening, June 5, 2014, at his residence.
Mr. Dunn was born September 1, 1923 in Hilliards, PA, a son of Charles and Elizabeth Gostey Sisko. After his fathers accidental accident death in a coal mine he received his stepfathers surname. He lived in Carbon, Indiana from 1930-1943 before moving to the Greater Youngstown area.
He worked as magnet craneman in the Open Hearth Division for Youngstown Sheet and Tube (LTV) for 37 years. Prior to the Youngstown Sheet & Tube, Francis worked for Youngstown Welding Company.
Francis was a member of Christ Our Savior Parish at St. Nicholas Church where he was an usher for 20 years.
He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, gardening, and was fascinated with windmills.
Francis' wife, the former Dorothy Lukes, whom he married Oct. 16, 1948, died Dec. 21, 2011. He leaves two sons, David R. Dunn of Struthers and Raymond (Beth) Dunn of Poland; two step-granddaughters, Robin (Matt) Grote of Westerville and Rochelle Hurt of Cincinnati; one step great-granddaughter, Nora; and a niece and nephew.
Besides his parents and wife, Francis was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Beabout; and infant son, Francis Dunn Jr..
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 10:30AM at Christ Our Savior Parish at Holy Trinity Church. Interment will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.
Friends and family and will be received Monday from 9:30-10:15AM at the church.
