Canfield - Francis Coss, 83, of Beaver Township, died Tuesday evening at Briarfield at the Ridge.
Francis was born February 15, 1928 in Lowellville, a son of Frederick and Mary McGinnis Coss. He was raised in Lowellville and attended Lowellville High School. In 1954, after his marriage to his wife Violet, they moved to Struthers where he resided until moving to Beaver Township in 2000.
Francis worked in the Substation Construction Department for Ohio Edison, retiring in 1990 after 43 years of service. A United States Army Veteran, Francis served in the Korean Conflict from 1950 until 1952. He was a former member of Holy Rosary Church in Lowellville.
Francis loved fishing with his son at Pymatuming and Lake Erie.
His wife the former Violet Falasco, whom he married June 6, 1954 died March 3, 2003. He leaves one son, Frederick (Melinda) Coss of Poland; and two grandchildren, Stephen and Lauren Coss.
Besides his parents and wife, Francis was preceded in death by three sisters, Sara, Josephine, and Anna; and two brothers, Ed and Buck.
A private committal service will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Lowellville.
