Frances L. Allen

July 8, 1931 — April 15, 2018

Youngstown- Frances L. Allen, 86, went to rest in the arms of Jesus Sunday afternoon, April 15, 2018 at Shepherd of the Valley in Boardman.

Frances was born in Metcalf County, KY on July 8, 1931, a daughter of Elbert and Rosey (Richard) Jessie.

While working as a waitress near Ft. Knox, KY, she met the love of her life Dan L. Allen Sr., when he came into the restaurant she was working at. They were wed on September 9, 1951 and relocated to Dan's hometown of Youngstown to start their family. Frances became a dedicated homemaker, who took great pride in taking care of her family and her home.

She loved reading her Bible and sharing her love for Jesus with her family and friends. There is nothing she cherished more than the role of being "Grandma" and "Granny." She truly loved spending time with her grandchildren and enjoyed watching the grandkids play with her pet poodle Feisty.

A woman of deep faith, Frances was a member of Evangel Baptist Church in Boardman and a previous member of the Highway Tabernacle Church, and the former Struthers First Baptist Church and Hopewell Baptist Church.

Her husband of 53 years preceded her in death on March 23, 2005. She is survived by two daughters, Shirley (Larry) Bramer of Boardman and Cathy Millerleile of New Springfield; two sons, Dan (Doris) Allen II of Boardman and Richard Allen of Youngstown. Frances also leaves behind to cherish her memory 10 grandchildren, Eric, Kellie, Becky, Missy, Sadie, Tawna, Johnny, Amy, Sara, and Jhuana and 19 great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Frances was preceded in death by three sisters, Catherine Fitzgerald, Brenda Crockett, and Norma Hardenbrook; and two brothers, Sam and Carlos Jessie.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, April 20 from 6-8 p.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, 11 Spring St., Struthers and also on Saturday from 2-2:45 p.m. at Evangel Baptist Church, 5288 Southern Blvd., prior to the 3 p.m. funeral service officiated by Pastor Randy Brunko. Interment will take place at Lake Park Cemetery, Youngstown.
