FLORENCE L. SHIPLEY YOUNGSTOWN -- Florence L. Shipley 83 of 248 S. Schenley Ave., died Saturday afternoon at her residence. Mrs. Shipley was born in Struthers, March 14, 1923, a daughter of Roy & Elma Martin Wire. She was a 1941 graduate of Struthers High School, where she was president of her graduating class, a member of the Mill Creek Baptist Church, and had worked at Strouss and the Dollar General in Struthers. Mrs. Shipley volunteered her time with the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley, and also in State Parks. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Tracy W. Shipley, Sr., whom she married August 10, 1941, one daughter, Naomi (Ron) Sparks, of Struthers, two sons, Tracy (Nancy) Shipley, Jr., of Greenford, Dr. Ronald (Glennda) Shipley of Youngstown, one brother, Robert Delvaux of New Springfield, 10 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Wire, George Wire, and four sisters, Effie McCutcheon, Gladys Parish, Dorothy Jardine, and Grace Codner. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5-8 at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers, where services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 am., friends may call Wednesday from 10:00 âa�" 10:45 am.
