Florence E. "Flo" Hittie

Poland - Florence E. "Flo" Hittie, 7,1 of Van Drive, died Friday, September 5, 2008 at her residence with her family at her side after an 8 month battle with pancreatic cancer. Mrs. Hittie was born April 1, 1937 in Youngstown, a daughter of Joseph & Margaret Dupal Evans. She was a 1955 graduate of Struthers High School. Mrs. Hittie worked as a secretary and teller for the Home Savings and Loan Company for 20 years prior to her retirement in 1999. She was a member of St. Nicholas Church and the Struthers PTA. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, especially watching them at their sporting and dance events, going out to dinner with her husband Bill, and meeting and spending time with her club girls. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, William "Bill" Hittie, Jr., whom she married October 18, 1958; one daughter, Deanne and her husband, Joe Molaskey of Poland; one son, William "Bill" Hittie, III and his wife, Peg of Columbus; two sisters, Jeanne Serich and her husband, Bill of Struthers and Carol Grimm of Struthers; four granddaughters, Angela and Amanda Molaskey nd Elizabeth and Katherine Hittie. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Richard "Dick" Grimm. Family and friends will be received Sunday from 3-6 p.m. and Monday from 12:30 -1:00 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland, where prayer services will be held Monday at 1:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the St. Nicholas Church in Struthers with Fr. Kevin Peters officiating. A special thanks to the Hospice of the Valley and to her club girls for all of their care and support, Sue Missik, Judy Avdey, Vivian Leko, Mary Ellen Willmitch, Pauline Chrapcynski and Helen Mershimer.
