Struthers - Everett Patrick Rooney, 79, of 147 Parkway Dr. died Wednesday morning, July 11, 2007 in St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Boardman. Mr. Rooney was born Friday, July 29, 1927 in Youngstown, Ohio, a son of Leo and Mary (McDonald) Rooney. He attended the Scienceville Schools and was a Lutheran by faith. He was a United States Army and Navy veteran. During World War II, he served in the Navy and fought in the battle of Okinawa. After the war, he joined the Army and served in Germany. He worked as a Crane Operator for Youngstown Steel Door, retiring in 1988 after 40 years. Mr. Rooney enjoyed fishing, hunting, and hiking. He also had a great love for animals. Surviving are his wife, Elsie Rooney, whom he married January 22, 1950; three daughters, Kathy (Leonard) Siudyla of Grand Rapids, MI, Patricia A. Rooney of Showlow, AZ, and Michelle Nail of Struthers, OH; one son, Everett P. Rooney, Jr of McConnellsville, OH; a brother, William (June) Rooney of Austintown, OH; a niece, Melody Rooney of Youngstown, OH; and five grandchildren, Joshua Siudyla, Faith Siudyla, Adam Nail, Leeann Nail, and Garrett Randolph. He was preceded in death by his parents. Calling hours and services will be private. Arrangements are by the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers.
