New Middletown - Evelyn M. Herycyk, 89, died Sunday morning, January 5, 2014 at Maplecrest Nursing Home.
Evelyn was born July 13, 1924 in Englewood, NJ, a daughter of Ralph and Sadie Zitello Palmieri.
Evelyn was raised in New Jersey and came to Youngstown as a child and was a 1942 graduate of East High School. Evelyn and her family moved back to New Jersey, where she worked for Finest Super Market for over 15 years. In 1971 she returned to Ohio and retired from Republic Steel. Evelyn loved to play bingo. Evelyn was a wonderful and loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family.
Evelyn's husband, Louis Herycyk whom she married November 23, 1946 died September 28, 1976; She is survived by her daughter, Lorraine and husband Nunzio Scordo of Struthers; son, Luddy and wife Joyce Herycyk of Cortland; three grandsons, Nunzio, Lorenzo and Angelo Scordo; one granddaughter, Rachel Herycyk; and loving companion, Jack Sinclair of Struthers.
Besides her parents and husband, Evelyn was preceded in death by her three brothers, Carmen, Eugene and Sam Palmieri; three sisters, Connie Pecchio, Gloria Globeck, and Dolores Arguilla.
