Evelyn I. Downie

September 11, 1928 — June 24, 2017

Evelyn "Evie" Innes Downie of Stevensville, Maryland died Saturday June 24, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born September 11, 1928 in Youngstown, Ohio a daughter of the late James and Sarah (Wilson) Downie.

Evie graduated from Boardman High School, Boardman, Ohio and then attended Youngstown State University, where she received her teaching degree. She taught for 35 years at Austintown Middle School. Evie retired from teaching at 57 years old.

Evie is survived by her two sisters, Marguerite "Peg" Cannon, Sarah "Salle" Wallace, extended loving family and her dog, Scooby. She was preceded in death by her brothers, William Downie and James Downie.

Evie lived in Stevensville with her two sisters Peg, Salle and her dog Scooby. They were known as the Golden Girls!! Evie moved to Maryland in 1996 to live with her sister Peg after Peg’s husband James Cannon passed away.

Evie enjoyed world-wide traveling, happy hour in the hanger with the Kentmorr neighbors and friends, reading, vacationing with family and spending time with family and friends.

A visitation will be from 9:30AM to 10:30AM on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Davis -Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market Street, Boardman, Ohio. A graveside service will follow the visitation in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Boardman, Ohio. Following the graveside service, the family invites guests back to the Davis-Becker Family Center for a meal and fellowship.

There will be a celebration of her life in Stevensville at a later date.
