POLAND - Eugene Raymond "Pops" Mitchell, 74 of Lyon Boulevard, died Friday, June 26, 2009 at his residence.
Mr. Mitchell was born November 21, 1934 in Coitsville, OH, son of Helen Berkinyi, and was a life long area resident.
He worked as an Iron Worker for the local 207 of Youngstown for 40 years where he was a lifelong member, before his retirement in late 1990's. He was a member of the Hungarian Presbyterian Church, a scuba instructor at the YMCA in Youngstown and was an avid coin collector, He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, the former Virginia Bees, one daughter Cheron (Bill) German of North Lima; four sons, Eugene (Debra Lowe) Mitchell of North Lima, Herbert Mitchell of Lowellville, Stuart Mitchell of Poland, Karl (Joan) Mitchell of Austintown; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Besides is mother, he was preceded in death by one son, Michael Mitchell.
Family and friends will be received Monday from 5:00 pm-8:00 pm and Tuesday from 9:30 am - 10:15 am at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland, where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at Lake Park Cemetery.
