EUGENE B. MALONEY âa�" 91 POLAND âa�" Eugene B. Maloney, 91 of 63 Poland Manor, died Sunday morning at the Greenbriar Healthcare Center. Mr. Maloney was born August 21, 1915 in Youngstown, a son of Bernard âa�A"Barneyâa�A� and Dotouida âa�A"Dotâa�A� Mortimer Maloney. Originally from Lowellville, he then lived in Poland for 45 years. He was a graduate of Lowellville High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 842nd Engineering Aviation Battalion. Mr. Maloney was in the battles of New Guinea, Southern Philippines, Luzion and Ryukus where he received the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, with four Bronze Stars, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star, the Good Conduct Ribbon, and the WW II Victory Medal. Mr. Maloney also received a letter of Commendation from President Harry S. Truman. Mr. Maloney was a member of the Holy Family Church in Poland, and had worked as an Engineer for LTV Steel, for 45 years, retiring in 1978. He is survived by his wife the former Rosalie Rich, whom he married March 5, 1952, two daughters, Sandra (Patrick) Gatta of Poland, Brenda (Jeffrey) Canada of Naples, FL., and three grandchildren, Allison Gatta, Bradley and Ashton Canada. Family and friends may call from 5-8 Wednesday at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland, where prayer services will be held Thursday morning at 11:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 noon Thursday at Holy Family Church in Poland with Rev. Msgr. William Connell officiating. Interment will follow at Poland Riverside Cemetery.
