AUSTINTOWN - Eugene F. Auman, 92, of Austintown, died Sunday, February 27, 2011 at Clare Bridge in Austintown.
Gene was born October 15, 1918 in Youngstown, a son of James and Anna Eisenhauer Auman.
He was a 1936 graduate of Struthers High School. Gene worked for Youngstown Sheet and Tube for 42 years, retiring in 1978 as the Manager of the Customer Service Department. He enjoyed golfing, traveling, bowling, woodworking, gardening and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He enjoyed spending time with his children, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
His wife, the former Rita Martin whom he married September 14, 1940, died August 25, 2001.
Gene is survived by his son, James (Deborah) Auman of Austintown, three daughters, Nancy (Ken) Martin of Moyock, NC, Sandy (Bob) Kerr of Poland and Chris (Kevin) Holmes-Forshee of Eldersburg, MD; one sister Eileen Yoerns of Columbiana, 11 grandchildren, and 14 Great-Grandchildren.
Besides his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his brother William Auman.
The Auman family would like to thank the wonderful and caring staff of Clare Bridge, Southern Care Hospice and the Victoria House for all of the care given to Gene.
Family and friends will be received Thursday from 5-8 pm at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers, where funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00am. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Lake Park Cemetery.
