Bloomington - Ethel S. LaPaze, 79, of Bloomington, IL, formerly of Poland, died Friday, March 7, 2008 in BroMenn Regional Medical Center. Mrs. LaPaze was born Sunday, September 16, 1928 in Youngstown, a daughter of John & Mary Pekarcik Sanders. She worked as a homemaker and worked for the Bursar's office at Youngstown State University. She was a member of the Holy Family Church in Poland. Her husband, James P. LaPaze, who she married September 16, 1950, died July 28, 2001. She is survived by four daughters, Mary (Richard) Lopushansky of Woodlands, TX, Jean LaPaze of Normal, IL, Tricia Stevenson of Kansas City, KS, and Jacci (Jerry) Crittenden of Bloomington IL; one brother, Eugene (Ann) Sanders of Campbell; an aunt, Josephine Gonda of Youngstown; three grandchildren, David Lopushansky and Allison and Tyler Crittenden. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence Sanders and John Sanders; and one sister, Josephine Godward. Family and friends will be received Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland, where prayer services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. A funeral mass will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Holy Family Church in Poland. Interment will follow at Poland Riverside Cemetery. The family suggests donations be made in Mrs. LaPaze's name to the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation, PO Box 96280 Washington, D.C. 20090.
