Esther Shields

Esther Shields, 94 St. Petersburg- Esther Shields, 94, of 8220 24th Ave., North, formerly of Poland, died Monday afternoon at Bayfront Medical Center Hospital in St. Petersburg. Mrs. Shields was born August 9, 1909, in Youngstown, a daughter of Robert P. and Mildred Allen. She was raised in Struthers and moved to Poland as a young woman. She was a graduate of Struthers High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of Boardman Westminster Presbyterian Church, enjoyed playing bridge and was a poet. Her husband James Howard Shields of 60 years, died August 30, 1987. She leaves one daughter, Nancy Ellis of St. Petersburg, Florida; one sister, Allie Willard of Poland; and three grandsons, Joseph McFate of Los Angeles, California and James and Robert McFate both of Columbus. A Memorial services will be held, Saturday, 2:00 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland, where friends may call one hour prior.
