Lowellville - Esther Mae Howell, 87, died Monday morning, February 27, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center.
Mrs. Howell was born December 9, 1924 in Ellwood City, PA, a daughter of Archie R. and Ruth (Cowen) Nagel.
She was a graduate of Lincoln High School and worked as a cashier for A&P Grocery Stores, where she met her husband. She moved to Lowellville in 1958 after marrying her husband William E. Howell on July 6, 1955.
A devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Esther enjoyed homemaking and taking care of her family. She was a member of Evangel Baptist Church in Boardman, where she volunteered for many years in the nursery. Her interests including cooking, sewing, reading her Bible, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Her husband, William, of 55 years, died June 5, 2011. She is survived by her daughter, Barb (Tom) Magee of Mercer, PA; son, William (Stacy) Howell of Vincent; two sisters, Margaret Butler of New Castle and Jean Blair of Ellwood City; brother, Archie (Frances) Nagel of Florida; five grandchildren, William Peter Howell of Vincent, Christin Helen Howell of Vincent, Jason Magee of Mercer, Justin (Jodi) Magee of Austintown, and Amy (Brad) Theodore of Boardman; and four great-grandchildren, Kaelin Magee, Dominic Theodore, Hailey Magee, and Logan Magee.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Don Nagel; and a sister, Margorie Nagel.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Evangel Baptist Church with Pastor Ron Nagel officiating. Interment will follow at Harmony Baptist Cemetery in New Castle.
Family and friends will be received Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Lowellville and Friday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church.
