Lowellville - Esther Mae Bader, 85, of Lowellville, died of complications due to a stroke Wednesday evening at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

Esther was born May 7, 1924 in Fairview, PA, a daughter of Howard and Ethel Wright Dawson. She was raised in Pennsylvania and moved to this area after World War II.

She was a graduate of Mt Jackson High School, Mt Jackson, PA and received her degree as a Registered Nurse from Youngstown State University. Esther worked at Warren General Hospital where she retired as night supervisor. During World War II, Esther was a welder in Midland, Oh. She was an avid quilter and reader, enjoyed gardening, and loved flowers. Most of all Esther loved spending time with her family. She was a member of St. Marks Lutheran Church in Boardman.

Her husband James Frederick Bader whom she married September 12, 1943, died July 2, 1968. She leaves three daughters, Patricia A. Heim of Struthers, Priscilla Stinson of New Middletown, and Phyllis (Kenneth Leo) Wagner of Lowellville; a son, James (Patricia) Bader, Jr., of Berlin Center; twelve grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, Esther was preceded in death by a son, Gene Dawson Bader; and five brothers and three sisters.

Services will be held Tuesday 7:00 p.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers with Pastor Pete Haenftling officiating.  Interment will follow Wednesday at 11:00 am at Petersburg Cemetery, Petersburg, Ohio.

Friends will be received Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 6:45 PM at the funeral home in Struthers.
