Ernest J. Rogers, Sr., 80 Lowellville- Ernest J. Rogers, Sr., 80 of 707 Westfield Drive, died Sunday evening at his residence. Mr. Rogers was born August 15, 1925 in Edinburg, Pennsylvania, a son of Anthony and Rose Storti Rogers. He was a 1943 graduate of Lowellville High School and served in the 348th Air Service Group of the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Rogers was a Postmaster for the Lowellville office of the United States Postal Service for 30 years retiring in 1984. A member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Lowellville, Mr. Rogers was a Lector and Eucharistic Distributor. He served as President of the Lowellville PTA from 1970-1972, was a member of the American Legion Post #247 and Honorary Lifetime Member of the Lowellville PTA and Lowellville Rod and Gun Club. In 1976 Mr. Rogers was Parade Marshall for the Bicentennial Celebration in Lowellville. Mr. Rogers enjoyed bowling at various bowling alleys including Holiday Bowl, Arena Lanes and Marhill. He also loved to golf and achieved two holes in one, on the 6th hole of Lee Run Golf Course. Besides his wife the former Lucille M. Faraglia whom he married October 6, 1951, Mr. Rogers leaves four daughters, Lucille Bartlett and Rose Marie Vocature both of Lowellville, Adelina Angelilli of Poland and Mary Anne (Fred) Wyatt of Loganville, Georgia; four sons, Anthony Ruggiero of Struthers, Daniel Rogers and David Rogers both of Lowellville and Ernest Rogers, Jr., of Boardman; one sister, Margaret (Pat) Everly of Struthers; one brother, Samuel Rogers of Poland; and seventeen grandchildren. Besides his parents, Ernie was preceded in death by two sisters, Anne Lewis and Mary Warmijak and three brothers, John, Philip, and James Rogers. Funeral services will be Thursday, 9:30 AM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Lowellville and 10:30 AM at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. Friends may call Wednesday from 3-8 PM at the Funeral Home. The family requests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church and to Hospice of the Valley.
