Elizabeth J. Slepsky Oney

Davie - Elizabeth "Betty" J. Slepsky Oney, 82, of Davie, Florida, formerly of Struthers, died Tuesday afternoon, February 16, 2016 at Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital in Katy, TX.

Betty was born June 2, 1933 in Bennington Township, MI, a daughter of the late Louis and Josephine Ragula Bokros.

Raised in Struthers, Betty was a graduate of Struthers High School, Class of 1951. She worked at Packard Electric for 30 years and retired as an inspector. After retirement she moved to Davie, Florida where she lived until due to her health condition she was treated in Katy, TX for the last eight months.

Betty was a former member of St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church in Struthers and St. David Catholic Church in Davie, FL.

Betty was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. She could always make someone laugh and had a contagious smile. She will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives she has touched.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, two daughters, Nancy Slepsky-Peters and Karen Slepsky both of Magnolia, TX; three brothers, Louis and Edward (Mel) Bokros, both of Struthers, and Donald (Phyllis) Granchay of Poland; four grandchildren, Lt. Shannon ( Lt. Ryan) McBride USN of Virginia Beach, Va., Dalton and Lindsey Smith both of Magnolia, and Nicole Burnbrier of Poland; and three great-grandchildren, Emerson McBride and Dayna and Samantha Burnbrier.

Besides her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her son, Gene Slepsky.

A prayer service will be held Wednesday, 12:15 PM at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 PM at Christ Our Savior Parish at St. Nicholas Church in Struthers, with Fr. Bernard Bonnot officiating. Interment will follow at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Lowellville.

Friends will be received Tuesday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.

Contributions maybe given to the funeral home to be used according to the wishes of the family.
