Elizabeth G. Gough, 88 Struthers- Elizabeth G. Gough, 88, of 371 Sexton Street died Wednesday morning in Forum Health Northside Medical Center. Mrs. Gough known as Libby was born December 18, 1915 in Emlenton, Pennsylvania a daughter of Walter and Mary Naylor Gibb. She came to Struthers in 1938 and worked in the unemployment office in Youngstown until beginning her teaching career. She had been a teacher in the Struthers City School System specializing in Special Education. She had taught kindergarten, the severely retarded and special education in all elementary schools in the city. She was instrumental in placing some of her students in the Boy Scout program. She had graduated from Emlenton High School in 1933 and from Ohio University in 1937. She later obtained advanced education at the University of Akron and Youngstown State University being granted a Masters Degree. Mrs. Gough was a member of the Struthers Presbyterian Church and the Fireside Sunday School class. She was in demand in the area as a book reviewer. She was a member of the Struthers Junior Reading Circle, the Retired Teachers Association, the PTA and the Struthers and Poland Couples Bridge Club. She had been nominated as the Woman of the Year by the Mahoning County Teachers. Her husband, Charles W. Gough, Jr. the former co-owner of Gough Ford, to whom she was married June 14, 1946 died August 11, 2002. She leaves two daughters, Margaret Jacubec of Poland and Phoebe (John) Horvath of Wadsworth, Ohio; a son, Walter W. (Kathleen) Gough of Poland; grandchildren, Elizabeth Gori, Jill Jacubec, Jon Jacubec, Matt Jacubec, Amy Gough, Jenni Gough, Shani Sinopoli, and Shannon Demita and great grandsons, Nathan, Nicholas, Jacob and Jaret Jacubec. Two sisters, Harriet Shoup and Janet Gates and a brother Frank Gibb are deceased. The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Saturday at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home where visitation will be Friday from 5- 8 PM and Saturday from 1 -1:45 PM.
