Youngstown - Elizabeth J. "Betty" Beil, 86, of Youngstown, died Sunday, January 27, 2008 at The Pickering House, a hospice facility in Lancaster, Ohio. Mrs. Beil was born March 23, 1921 in Youngstown, Ohio, a daughter of Michael H. and Rose A. Fortnat Carsell. A 1940 graduate of Wilson High School, Mrs. Beil was an office manager and receptionist for Dr. Paxton Jones for over 20 years. She had also worked as a bookkeeper for American Red Cross and the American Heart Association. Mrs. Beil also volunteered at Beeghly Oaks, where she worked in the gift shop and played bingo with the residents. She was a member of Holy Family Church in Poland and a member of the Arthritis Aquatics Keystone Rehabilitation water aerobics class. Mrs. Beil also loved to read and knit. Her husband, Bernard J. Beil, whom she married November 8, 1947, died July 4, 1977. She leaves two daughters, Rosemarie "Sissy" (Bob) Simons of Cincinnati and Marcie (Mark Nusser) Beil of Lancaster; one granddaughter, Holly (Ray) Henry of Youngstown; and one grandson, Michael (Jamie) Simons of St. Augustine, FL. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Merceda Carsell and Madeline Delfs; and her brother, Henry Carsell. Funeral services will be held Saturday at Holy Family Church at 10 a.m. with Rev. Msgr. William J. Connell officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends will be received Friday from 4-8 p.m. at Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland, where a prayer service will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be made in Mrs. Beil's name to The Pickering House, 282 Sells Road, Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or to Holy Family Church, 2729 Center Road, Poland, Ohio 44514.
