Elizabeth A."Libby" Balentine, 102
Boardman
Services will be held Monday, 11:00 a.m. at Davis-Becker Funeral Home with Rev. Peter Del Nagro and Rev. William Betteridge officiating, for Elizabeth A. Balentine. She passed away Wednesday at Shepherd of the Valley Boardman.
Mrs. Balentine was born Oct. 31, 1911 in Youngstown a daughter of J. Sherwood and Edith Holtz Reid. She graduated from South High School in 1929 and from Muskingham College in 1933, where she belonged to the Kianu Club. She had been a teacher with the New Castle Schools, Youngstown City Schools and Boardman Local Schools.
She was a member of Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church, its Women's Association, and a former Deacon. Also she was a member of American Bell Association and Illalee 11 Club.
Libby loved her family, friends and church and found her greatest joy with them. She was interested in the history of bells and enjoyed collecting them along with teddy bears. She liked needlework, especially needlepoint and made many ornaments and small hangings.
Her husband Kenneth W. Balentine whom she married Nov. 4, 1939 died Feb. 28, 1992.
Surviving her is her son James R. (Susan) Balentine of Boardman and a grandson James A. Balentine and two great grandchildren Steven and Jason Balentine. Also a niece Edith (Russell) Makynen of Ashtabula.
Preceding her in death besides her husband and parents is a sister Jean Sims.
Friends may call Sunday from 5:00p.m.-7:00p.m. and Monday from 10:00 a.m.-10:45 a.m. at the funeral Home.
