Elinor L. Olson

Poland - Elinor L. Olson, 93, of Poland, died Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at the Hospice House. Mrs. Olson was born August 31, 1914 in Youngstown, Ohio, a daughter of S. Reese and Laura Pifer Allen. A 1933 graduate of Struthers High School, Mrs. Olson was a homemaker. She was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church and the Order of the Eastern Star Miriam Chapter #278. Mrs. Olson was a talented seamstress and a collector of antique glassware. Her husband, Harold M. Olson, whom she married October 21, 1936, died September 7, 1975. Mrs. Olson leaves her daughter, Ann (John) Istvan of Westerville; her son, David (Lynne) Olson of Warner Robins, Georgia; a sister, Norma Allen of Poland; two grandsons, Geoffrey Olson of Warner Robins, Georgia and Tim (Laine) Istvan of Florida; one granddaughter, Marren Istvan of Westerville; and a great-grandson, Tyler Istvan. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Allen; and a granddaughter, June Olson. Family and friends will be received Wednesday from 3-6 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland. There will be no funeral services. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Boardman. The family requests that memorial contributions be made in Mrs. Olson's name to the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 119 Stadium Drive, Boardman, Ohio 44512.
