Eleanor Kovalcik, 98
BOARDMAN - Beloved mother, Eleanor Kovalcik, 98, passed away on Monday, Aug. 1, 2011, at Northside Hospital following a short illness as she was surrounded by her devoted family.
She was born Feb. 1, 1913, to George and Mary Martin of Mingo Junction.
Eleanor was a Division Manager for Sears Roebuck Company and retired after 30 years of service. She was an excellent cook, an avid reader, and enjoyed traveling all across the country with her husband and family. She resided in Boardman for the past 50 years. Eleanor was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Boardman.
Eleanor is survived by her three daughters, Eleanor (Skip) Miller of Boardman, Jean (Neil) Baldelli of Boardman, and Janice (Mike) Giba of Columbiana. She was a wonderful grandmother and was lovingly called Grandma K by grandchildren, Jeff (Amy) Miller of Duluth, Georgia, Kim (Frank) Ohle of Boardman, Neil Baldelli of Boardman, Lori (Al) D'Angelantonio of Sewell, NJ., Lisa (Dave) Stuart of Solon, Sharon (Michael) Tomcsanyi of Boardman, Debi Miller of Austintown, Carolyn (Sam) Alonso of Reminderville, and Allison (Josh) Jenkins of Solon.
Great-Grandma K had 22 great-grandchildren, Jaclyn, Sara, Kayla, Kim Miller, Breanne Ludt, Ryan, Katelyn, Christopher Courtney, Alex, Nicholas D'Angelantonio, Aiden Miller, Valarie, Maria Baldelli, Cameron, Cory, Callie Stuart, Jessica, Josh Jenkins, Kelly, Lindsay Tomcsanyi, Mike, Nicole Tabachino and a great-great-grandchild, McKensie Miller.
Besides her parents, Eleanor was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 64 years, Rudy Kovalcik, who passed away in 1999 and grandson, Kenny Miller, who passed away in 1983.
She was the last survivor of 13 siblings.
Eleanor will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, Aug. 4, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home on Market Street, Boardman, and again on Friday, Aug. 5, 2011, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 119 Stadium Drive, Boardman, followed by a service at 11 a.m. at the church sanctuary.
In lieu of flowers, material contributions may be made in Eleanor Kovalcik's name to the Westminster Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.
The family is very appreciative of all her friends who visited her regularly over the years. They are also grateful for the wonderful care given by the staff of GlenEllen Assisted Living in North Lima.
