Boardman - Eleanor E. (Angelo) Capalucci, 81, died early Saturday morning, May 30, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
Mrs. Capalucci was born June 21, 1933 in Youngstown, a daughter of Jerry and Adeline Bifolco Angelo.
A lifelong area resident, Mrs. Capalucci was a graduate of The Rayen School. She went on to receive her bachelor and master's degree in education from Youngstown State University. Mrs. Capalucci worked as an elementary school teacher, teaching mainly first grade, for the Youngstown City Schools. She taught mainly at Harrison Elementary School on the eastside and Taft Elementary School on the southside, retiring in 1995 after 44 years of service.
She was a current member of St. Charles Borromeo Church and a former member of St. Dominic Catholic Church, when she resided on Youngstown's southside.
Some of Mrs. Capalucci's favorite things to do were gardening, reading, and making ceramics. Eleanor will always be remembered for her warm heart and feeling of comfort she gave to those who surrounded her. When you walked into a room, she always greeted you with a bright smile and usually a "hello doll" or "hi babe," making you feel like no one was more important than you. She was also quite the hostess, always welcoming family and friends into her home, and assuring no one ever left hungry. Mrs. Capalucci especially made the holiday celebrations special for family, making many wonderful memories for them to look back on.
Eleanor will always be lovingly remembered by her beloved husband, Dan A. Capalucci, whom she married June 30, 1956; three daughters, Nancy (Larry) Tondy of Struthers, Tina (David) Deitsch of Orlando, FL, and Linda (Colin) Skinner of Hudson; son, Anthony Capalucci of Boardman; three brothers, Louis "Red" (Jean) Angelo of Youngstown, John (Sandy) Angelo of Youngstown, and Jerry (Loretta) Angelo of Canfield; and was loving "Grammy" to her three grandchildren, Nicholas Skinner, Olivia Tondy, and Casey Deitsch.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Nancy Fusillo and Ann Tuscano; and brother, Joseph Angelo.
A prayer service will be held Tuesday at 12:15 p.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Church.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday from 11:15 a.m. until the time of the prayer service at the funeral home.
