Edwin Stephen Varga Struthers- Edwin Stephen Varga, 90, died Sunday morning at his residence. Mr. Varga was born December 18, 1915 in Campbell, a son of Stephen and Julia Majors Varga. He was raised in Campbell and came to Struthers in 1959. A 1935 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School, Mr. Varga was a furnace operator for Youngstown Sheet and Tube and later LTV, retiring in 1978 after 40 years. Mr. Varga was an Army Air Force Veteran, serving in England with the 34th Bombers Group during World War II. For over 36 years he was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Boardman where he sang in the choir. He was a member of the VFW Post #7538 in Struthers. He is survived by his wife, the former Katherine Spon, whom he married January 25, 1941; daughter, Jerilyn Manos of Youngstown; son William (Charlene) Varga of Columbiana; sister Margaret (William) Battista of Poland; two grandchildren, Victoria (Dominic) Muto of Struthers and Cristina Manos of Tucson, Arizona; and two great-grandchildren, Dominic and Katie Muto. Besides his parents, Mr. Varga was preceded in death by his son, Edwin Varga, grandson, Jamie Manos, and two brothers, Joseph and William Varga. Memorial services are scheduled to be Thursday, 11:00 AM at the Bethel Lutheran Church. Friends may call from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Thursday at the church.
