Edward George Telego, 87
NEW SPRINGFIELD - Edward George Telego, 87, died April 16, 2012, at Masternick Memorial Health Care Center surrounded by his family.
Mr. Telego was born Oct. 2, 1924, in Struthers, a son of Carrie and Ladislav Telego.
He was a Springfield High School graduate and went on to work as an upholster for Martin's Furniture in Youngstown and later become self employed, before retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Mount Olivet United Church of Christ in North Lima and was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II.
Ed was also a member of American Legion Columbiana Post 0290 and he loved woodcarving, where he was a member of the Mahoning Valley Woodcarving Club in Canfield.
Ed is survived by his wife, Twila Telego (Guterba), whom he married May 15, 1946; a daughter, Sue (Mark) Irons of Poland; a son, Don (Victoria) Telego of New Springfield; four grandchildren, Don (Staci) Telego of Austintown, Christine (Josh) Wiery of Petersburg, Jeremy (Nicole) Telego of New Springfield, and Michelle (Bill) Bieber of Thiells, N.Y.; six great-grandchildren, Brianna Carpenter, Alex Telego, Lilly Telego, Jacob Wiery, Danny Bieber, and Emily Bieber; and a brother, Walter Telego of Pennsylvania.
Besides his parents, Ed was preceded in death by brothers, George, Anthony, and Stanley Telego.
A memorial service with military honors will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland, with Pastor Don Monaco officiating.
