BOARDMAN - Edward A. Sipus, 82, died Sunday evening at Hospice of the Valley, Hospice House.
Edward was born July 24, 1929, in Youngstown, a son of Stephan and Mary Hans Sipus. He was a lifelong area resident and was a graduate of South High School.
He worked as a General Foreman for Republic Steel, where he retired in 1984. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during Korean War. Edward owned several thoroughbred racehorses that ran at Waterford and Thistledown. He also loved fishing, hunting, and spending time at Ocean City, Md.
Edward is survived by his wife, Peggy O'Neil Sipus of Boardman. He was a father to David (Pam) Sipus, Deborah Parish of Mineral Ridge, Edward (Sherry) Sipus Jr. of Massillon and Mark (Heidi) Sipus of Salem Township. He also is survived by sisters, Eva Joseph of Florida, Ann Drummond of Mineral Ridge, Elizabeth Sipus and Dorothy Dobran, both of Canfield; a brother, Gene Sipus of Canfield; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren
Besides his parents, Edward was preceded in death by his son, David Sipus; a sister, Sylvia McGuire; and a brother, John Sipus.
Private services were held today at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland Chapel.
