Edward D. Simon, 77 Poland- Edward D. Simon, 77, died Sunday afternoon at St. Elizabeth Health Care Center. Mr. Simon was born in Youngstown August 28, 1926, a son of Edward Daniel and Mary Philips Simon. He was a 1945 graduate of South High School. He was a painter and paper hanger for 48 year, retiring in 1995. He was in the Painters Union local 476. He was a 50 year member of the Odd Fellows organization. He was a veteran of the United Sates Army during WW II. He leaves his wife, the former, Norma Covert Sidley, whom he married September 1, 1967; one step-son, John Michael (Patti) Sidley of Niles; one sister, Luella (Herbert) Zimmerman of Florida; three grandchildren, Melissa, Jack, and Emily Sidley; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Viola Sinclair. Funeral services will be Thursday 11 AM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland. Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8PM at the funeral home and Thursday 10:00-10:45 AM. There will be an Odd Fellows service at 8:00PM. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Diabetes Association or to your favorite charity.
