Struthers - Edward J. "Jim" Rivalsky, 83, died Wednesday, August 7, 2013, at his home.
Mr. Rivalsky was born May 26, 1930 in Struthers, a son of John and Mary (Yuhasz) Rivalsky.
Mr. Rivalsky attended Struthers High and worked at Republic Steel as a millwright, retiring in 1985 after 30 years of service. After retirement, he sold real estate for D'Amico Real Estate.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1945 until 1947 and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3538.
Mr. Rivalsky was a member of Christ Our Savior Parish at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Struthers and the United Steel Workers.
In his spare time, he enjoyed tending to his flower and vegetable gardens. He also enjoyed swimming, and taught his grandchildren how to swim. A Cleveland Indians fan, Jim loved going to watch games with his family.
His wife, the former Lucille Conti, whom he married October 20, 1951, died January 24, 2010. Mr. Rivalsky is survived by two daughters, Linda (John) Terlesky of Poland and Cindy (Joseph) Muron of West Chester; son, Edward Rivalsky of Cleveland; brother, Albert Rivalsky of Campbell; and five grandchildren, Bradford, Sean, and Ross Muron, and Mike and Lauren Rivalsky.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers, John, Paul, infant James, and Charles Rivalsky; and four sisters, Mary Kopcash, Elizabeth Liptak, Katherine Simon, and Ann Hrina.
A prayer service will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial Monday at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
