Private services were held for Edward Jurina, of Youngstown, who passed away Sunday, February 17, 2008 at St. Elizabeth Boardman Medical Center. He was born to Michael and Mary Balog Jurina of New Castle, Pa on May 4, 1922. Edward was a member of St. Nicholas Church in Struthers and an employee of Commercial Shearing for 30 years in the hydraulic department. On September 8, 1949, he married the former Mary Lou Dunn at Holy Trinity Church in Struthers. Their union was blessed with two wonderful daughters, Carol Jurina Hopkins and Mary Lou Jurina Puskar. Edward loved all sports, country music, and traveling, especially to the casinos. He loved animals, especially dogs, which he pampered and treated like members of his family. He and his wife fell in love with their neighborâaas Papillion dog that he treated as his own. He thanked God for the many blessings, especially a loving family, a deeply loved and respected son-in-law, John Puskar, and his precious grandchildren, Quinn Thomas and Madison Rose Puskar. A prayer written by his wife was said at the beginning of each day by both of them. Lord Walk With Me Always By Mary Lou Jurina Lord walk with me always Never let go of my hand With You at my side I can walk, Alone I cannot even stand. With Your wisdom to guide me Iâaall not stumble or stray Lord walk with me always This I humbly pray. Let Your love fill me with hope Let Your goodness give me patience and strength, The closer You are Lord The more I am content. Let no darkness surround me Let precious light fill my soul Lord walk with me always, Until You call me to come home. Amen Although Edward was a quiet man, he had a sense of humor that he displayed by wondering if God ever laughed at some of the crazy and funny things those that He created did. He said he would find out when he finally met his Creator by telling Him a really good joke. Loved ones who departed before him were his parents, grandparents, brothers John, Steve, and Michael, plus cousins, aunts, and uncles. His daughter, Carol Jurina Hopkins, passed away at 29 years of age from melanoma. The beautiful memories he left will be treasured by all his loved ones and friends. His family finds comfort by knowing that heâaas going to a beautiful home.
