Boardman - Edward J Ballas, 77, of Boardman, died Tuesday afternoon at St. Elizabeth Medical Center Boardman Campus.
Mr. Ballas was born March 13, 1935 in Youngstown, a son of John and Mary Ballas.
A 1953 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, Mr. Ballas attended four years of carpentry school and was a carpenter by trade. He was a carpenter for General Motors for 25 years.
His wife, the former Carol Jean Barillaire, of 46 years died September 30, 2002; He leaves two daughters, Lisa (William Slosser) Ballas of Summerville, SC, and Becky (John) Soroka of Vienna, WV; three grandchildren, Nichole (Daniel) Barker, Lisa Marie (Jason) Eakle, and Janelle Nichole Soroka; two great-grandchildren, Rylee Astorg and Olivia Eakle; and his companion with whom he made his home, Dorothy Lightner.
Besides his parents and wife, Mr. Ballas was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held Today, 12:30 pm at Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland. Interment will follow at the Poland Riverside Cemetery, Poland.
Friends will be received today from 10:00 AM to 12:15 PM at the funeral home.
