AUSTINTOWN-Edith M. Hobbs, 89, formerly of Boardman, died Sunday morning, March 27, 2011 at Northside Hospital.
She was born July 27, 1921 in Grindstone, Pa., a daughter of Albert and Olive Wolfe Kifer.
She was employed as a head cashier at the former Valu King, now Giant Eagle, retiring after 38 years of service.
Mrs. Hobbs was a member of the Western Reserve Methodist Church, member and past matron of Miriam Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, the Clotilda Club, and the Past Matron Association.
Her husband, Alfred T. Hobbs, whom she married November 13, 1936, died May 19, 1998. She leaves her son, Donald (Shirley) Hobbs of Canfield; four grandchildren, Lisa (Carmand) Wright of Austintown, Amy (Nick) Santoro of Canfield, Jason Kotarski of Canfield, and Adam (Lori) Kotarski of Las Vegas; eight great-grandchildren, Amanda Wojciak, Frank, Nicole, Alyssa, and Tara Santoro, twins Ellie and Olive Kotarski, and Aydan Lynn Kotarski; two great-great-grandchildren, Gianna Santoro and Julian Wojciak; sister, Dorothy Myers of Latrobe, Pa; and sister-in-law, Mary Ruth Kifer of Perryopolis, Pa.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Donald Hobbs II; and numerous brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 4996 Market Street, Boardman. Interment will follow at Tod Homestead Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
