Edith Ferrando Edith Ferrando, 99, of 487 Shadydale Ave., Canfield, formerly of Campbell and a teacher in the Campbell and Youngstown public schools, passed away Sunday evening. Mrs. Ferrando was born November 4, 1907 in Campbell, a daughter of Charles C. and Minnie Griest Reed. She was a 1925 graduate of Campbell High School and attended State Teacherâa�a��s College of Slippery Rock, Pa. She was a graduate of Youngstown State University with a B.S. in Education and she did graduate work at Akron University. She began her teaching career at Reed Elementary in Campbell in 1926 where she taught for 11 years. She entered the Youngstown Schools in 1950, teaching kindergarten at Jackson School in Brownlee Woods until retirement in 1969. She went on to be a substitute in the Youngstown Elementary Schools until June of 1992. Mrs. Ferrando was a life member of Marion Heights Methodist Church where she was secretary for 25 years. She was a member of the Youngstown, State of Ohio and National Education Associations, an officer of the Early Childhood Association and an honorary life member of the State of Ohio P.T.A. She was an avid traveler and had traveled all over the world. Her husband, Dr. Cassie Ferrando, whom she married Sept. 3, 1936, died March 7, 1966. She leaves three nephews, Tom (Judy) Reed of Canfield, Richard Reed and David Reed; three nieces, Susan Paulo, Cathy Cline and Mary Beth Baldridge; numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were two sisters, Clarinda Reed, Emma Guignon, three brothers, Tom and wife Nancy Reed with whom she lived for 40 years, Bill and Elmer Reed, and one nephew Ron Guignon. Services will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Marion Heights Methodist Church where friends may call from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Mrs. Ferrando requested material tributes take the form of contributions to the church at 144 Woodland Ave., Youngstown, OH, 44405.
